What inspired this session?
For this senior session my client Rachel really just wanted to have fun. She was excited for me to style everything. She was basically my personal Barbie doll, and we had such a blast. I met her at a local Houston Boutique, Beehive (https://www.lovebeehive.com), and we had so much fun picking out her wardrobe for her session. The boutique was nice enough to lend us the wardrobe for this shoot! After we had chosen her wardrobe, this location popped into my head. It’s one of my favorites in the Houston Montrose area, and I haven’t really had a chance to use it yet. I really wanted this session to look fun and flirty. I think the British vibe of this Montrose Pub, and the amazing Fishtails Braids by Blushworthy (http://www.blushworthytx.com/) really made my senior portraits dreams come true.
What was your favorite thing about this session/senior?
My favorite thing about this session was my client Rachel. Not only did she let me have complete creative control, but she brought an amazing energy to the shoot. We had such a blast, and I will treasure this shoot for a long time.
What lenses and other equipment did you use?
I favored my 35mm 1.4 sigma lens during this shoot. I normally don’t use it as much, but I really wanted to capture more of the scenery with this photo session. I always use my reflector as well.
What is your #1 tip for marketing to seniors that you’d like other photographers to know?
I have have found that if you show your senior portrait clients a one of a kind experience and encourage them to share that (via Snapchat, Instagram, twice, etc.) They are happy to do so! A referral is always the best! I also find that Instagram reaches my high-schoolers more, but Facebook tends to reach the parents. Both are important!
